Product Description

Closed-end blind rivets feature a mandrel head that is protected by the closed end of the rivet to prevent the seepage of liquid or gas through the set rivet. POP closed end rivets are used where the adjoining back-plate cannot be accessed but must be kept weatherproof. Closed end blind rivets also provide a greater tensile strength and shear strength than open end rivets and are often preferred for electronics applications because the mandrel cannot fall into the work area.
Pop closed end rivets permanently join two materials by inserting the body of the rivet into a hole, then using a rivet tool to pull the mandrel, causing the body of the closed-end rivet to expand. The pressure of the tool eventually pops off the mandrel, leaving behind the secured rivet.
